Bella Sara offers a range of gaming experiences depending on your preferred platform. Regardless of your choice of platform though players will be experiencing a high quality horse orientated adventure that has you riding, trading, customising and caring for a vast number of horse breeds.
The franchise grew from a free online virtual pet game that combined with collectible horse trading cards and redeemable codes from various merchandise. The PC and DS (version reviewed here) versions of the game have a similar premise but gameplay is quite different with a host of additional features and depth that combine with more impressive graphics.
Regardless of your selected platform players will get to experience the joy of owning their own horse and caring for them in a large virtual world. These tasks include players feeding, petting, cleaning and brushing their horses. All of these activities are fairly basic and aren’t too difficult to grasp but are nicely designed to create create a realistic fantasy horse world.
A horse game wouldn’t be complete without the ability to ride your horses which is where show jumping and trails comes into play. The good selection of environments and the mixture of day and night settings ensures that variety is quite high in this aspect of the game.
No game can function without a robust currency system that gives you that sense of achievement and reward as you experience more and more of what the world has to offer.
In Bella Sara money and trading cards are earned for a range of odd jobs in the game world which does allow players to gravitate to the tasks they prefer rather than feel forced into certain tasks to generate funds. This money can be spent on all sorts of purchases like new outfits, accessories and new horses to care for.
For those unfamiliar with Bella Sara the origins of the game are the best place to start (and also free), if you find you enjoy what the online version of the game has to offer then you’ll love the extra content offered by the retail PC and Nintendo DS versions.
