CastleVille Legends introduces fantasy and heroes into a kingdom management game that is sure to delight fans of the genre. As one of the latest offerings from Zynga who has lots of experience in this space you can expect it to be an impressive experience albeit with the usual short comings of the genre (in this case wait times).

Particularly appealing is the ability to play both online and offline which means you can get your fix of management goodness even when you don’t have an internet connection or want to save your available data.

Set long ago in a time where the realm was plunged into darkness by a wizard’s curse with players holding the key to revitalising the world and freeing the heroes that have become trapped in crystal prisons.

In traditional management game style you’ll be taking your small plot of land and expanding outwards into the various lands on offer. Players will water apple trees, harvest crops, sell their goods to distant lands and much more. The most unique feature in CastleVille lies within the hero system which allows you to send heroes (once found and freed) on adventures to find rare loot and earn experience.

This added hero element adds a slight RPG style theme to the entire game and gives you a greater sense of purpose as to why you’re transferring this barren land into a thriving settlement. Within no time at all you’ll find yourself getting attached to your heroes and eagerly awaiting their return to see what loot they’ve been able to grab from the various dungeons around the place.

As you would expect from a Zynga title the formula in CastleVille Legends is finely polished, you’ve got bright graphics to get hooked, continuous unlocks through the level system and just enough quests to keep you busy.

In comparison to other management games in this genre CastleVille Legends is definitely a hit but don’t think that the RPG features change the core gameplay enough to enjoy if you aren’t usually a fan of this genre.

  • Ability to play online and offline.
  • Hero system adds some RPG like elements to the game.
  • Turn the wilderness into a thriving settlement.
  • Available on iOS and Android.
  • Finely polished and well-tuned management game.
