Delver is a dungeon crawler with randomised levels and is available for Windows, Mac and Android devices. The game has great appeal for fans of rougelike dungeon and action role playing games with its exploration and loot orientated gameplay.
Delver has been in development since 2012 and has slowly grown into an enjoyable game experience that still has plenty of plans to take the game to the next level.
Delver is played in a first person perspective and includes all the features you would want in a dungeon crawler. This includes great enemy variety, random loot, multiple weapon types and mystery potions (drink them if you dare). On top of this you only have one life to explore each randomly generated dungeon requiring you to carefully take your next step forward.
This roguelike element has been used plenty of times in other games and it feels at home in Delver as you constantly challenge yourself to get further and further on your next dungeon run. Thanks to the randomisation you’ll have some games where you will have to sneak around and try to backstab as many enemies as you can while in others you’ll quickly become powerful and laugh as you slaughter the various enemies that dare approach you.
So what are the planned features that I alluded to earlier? Eventually the developer wants to include more RPG elements, touch up the art of the game, add special events and even throw in a few mini bosses to give you a greater challenge. There is no need to wait for these to be added to the game though as Delver is already very much playable (and enjoyable).
While the game might seem simple at first, Delver is incredibly fun and offers plenty of hidden depth to enjoy. Each game promises a new experience and it’s easy to spend hours roaming around the randomly generated Delver dungeons.
While it’s a great experience on your computer it shines even more on the Android platform as a casual smartphone gaming option.
