Available for iOS and Android devices players will need to link their Facebook, Google+ or Foursquare to join in on the fun, although a guest account can be used for 3 days before it is required.

Players start with 50,000 in cash and some coins (premium currency) to get their landlord empire started. Players can start purchasing instantly by selecting the ‘buy properties’ option which (if location services are on) will list popular locations currently near your location.

Purchases of property are completed in percentages as small as 0.1% which can easily set you back your first 50k depending on the location. Once you own a piece players are charged a daily amount for holding it but also receive a daily amount for rent which is calculated based on the popularity of that location.

To give new players to the game a fighting chance to own their own piece of a popular property players can make offers to the current owners of a property which can sometimes prove to be very profitable for both involved. This mechanic is really key the landlord feel that the game is delivering as players can profit off the capital growth of a location and the consistent rental income as well.

Further customisation is available through property upgrades that can boost income and skills such as an accountant or lawyer which provide smaller boosts to various game mechanics. The real game though like most multiplayer games is comparing yourself on the leader boards and watching your name rise through the local, national and global ranks.

Landlord – Real Estate Tycoon is a neat little past time although the lack of tutorial does require some trial and error to figure out how things work, there is also definite advantage to paying players with many upgrades limited to coins through purchases or levelling up.

Summary:

  • Claim a percentage of property in the real world and collect rent.
  • Make offers or sell your stake for a nice capital gain.
  • Upgrade your locations and hire specialists for small boosts.
  • Compete on various leader boards.
  • Free for iOS and Android.
