MapleStory is the most popular of MMO in the 2D side scrolling genre boasting a user count will into the millions of players. The game receives regular and healthy updates to keep you coming back with new content on a regular basis.

The game has a huge game world to explore, one of the largest in the MMO space with countless locations, quests, NPCs and monsters filling up nearly every inch of the world. It’s a game that is just dripping with content to ensure you never ask yourself what is next. Thanks to this huge amount of content you’ll also find the game to be a very grind free experience allowing you to focus on having fun rather than killing the same monster for hours on end.

All the features that make a strong MMMO experience are there with guilds, chatting, trading, mini games, parties, party quests, epic boss battles and more all rounding out the MapleStory experience.

One of the game’s biggest appeals is definitely the range of classes. Starting with only four classes MapleStory now has dozens of options between all the job advancements players will go through. This ensures that everyone has a class for them and while it can be a bit daunting at first you’ll eventually welcome the large amount of depth here.

For those that like to chase down the best pieces of equipment in the game, customise their own equipment or participate in a hugely active economy there is also plenty of room for that in the MapleStory world. With a deep item customisation system combined with the large community it’s easy to just focus on this element of the game alone.

Taking this customisation further is the expansive Cash Shop system that lets players get hold of cosmetic items for reasonable prices. If you don’t want to dump real money into the game then MapleStory supports an in game system to convert the main currency (Mesos) into the premium one (NX Cash).

MapleStory’s ability to hold the top MMO spot in the 2D side scrolling genre while many other games like MapleStory have surfaced goes to show just how much of a high quality experience this game is.

  • The best in the 2D side scrolling genre.
  • Huge number of classes means there is something for everyone.
  • A strong community and bustling economy.
  • Participate in guilds, party quests and epic boss battles.
  • Free to play.
