Panfu is a virtual world targeting kids aged between 5 and 14. The game is free to play and can be played online within a browser. Panfu’s gameplay revolves around chatting, avatar customisation and questing. Panfu started out in Europe in 2007 and quickly exploded to become the largest children’s virtual world in Europe with tens of millions of users.
In terms of gameplay Panfu offers a very similar experience to other virtual worlds for kids. In Panfu players explore different locations on the island of Panfu. Interaction with the game world is done through the player’s panda like avatar which is completely customisable with a variety of clothes and other accessories to create a unique look. On top of this players also have their own tree house in the game world which they can decorate and invite friends to visit.
Of course the Panfu is also packed full of games which are the main way to earn the game currency. Most of these have a learning aspect behind them so children will also be improving their abilities as they play the variety of games.
Safety is at the top of the priority list for Panfu and employs measures that most games now have built into them. This includes a chat moderation system, restrictive chat options through banned words and if parents select it, a phrase only based chat.
Panfu’s free price tag is a little more misleading than others though and quickly needs a membership option for players to get the most from the game. This membership opens up the entire world and all the game systems for players while also giving them the ability to adopt pets and access exclusive items.
Overall Panfu is your standard virtual world experience although it doesn’t do anything particularly impressive and is skewed heavily towards paying players compared to other options.
- Create your own panda avatar.
- Explore Panfu and complete quests.
- Complete puzzle based mini games.
- Safe chat options to keep kids safe online.
- The ability to adopt pets or decorate your tree house.
