For the amount of content you get for the small price tag, it is hard to look past this game for your Xbox 360 despite the many Minecraft fans that will scream “Minecraft clone”. The game has been rated over 60,000 times (with downloads over 1 million) on the Xbox Marketplace and holds a 4 out of 5 star rating, proving that it is one of the more popular games around.

Total Miner has very similar gameplay to Minecraft with a focus on players mining and placing blocks. This is split into a number of different game modes based on the experience that you are after. Of course the game features a creative game mode where you can build with unlimited blocks and a survival mode where you’ll have to gather resources for your survival against the many enemies.

The more unique game mode of Total Miner though which has proven very popular is the Dig Deep mode that has players attempting to reach the bottom (approximately 2000 blocks) of the game world by collecting blue prints for the necessary items to get you there.

Crafting forms part of the core gameplay like most Minecraft style games but Total Miner also expands on this element by including a game store where players sell blocks and tools for gold pieces (players can also find them in gold chests within caves). These gold pieces are then used to unlock more advanced blocks, tools and weapons to advance through the game.

If you prefer to play games on your Xbox and have been seeking a Minecraft style game Total Miner should definitely be at the top of your list.

Summary:

  • Heavily inspired by Minecraft but enough unique features to set it apart.
  • Available for a bargain price considering the amount of content.
  • Unique in game store feature to sell and buy blocks or tools.
  • Dig Deep mode makes for a fun and different experience.
  • Support for online play.
