Underworlds is an iOS game that feels very much like the first Diablo. If you remember playing the original Diablo for hours on end you’ll love the ability to take that gameplay on the go with you.
Underworlds was released in 2009 and is one of the few games on the app store to capture the older action RPG feel. In the game you start out as a simple guard for a traveling caravan but after a serious and mysterious attack on the town of Albrect you decide to investigate and stop more towns from being devastated.
You quickly realise that this attack was planned by something dark in hell and that you’ll be facing ore fierce enemies then you ever imagined.
In Underworlds you’ll explore various environments while dispatching enemies and gaining experience. This experience can be spent on your stats and on your feats to improve your strength. Your choice of stats include strength to boost your damage output, dexterity to boost your armour/critical/block chance, intelligence to boost your bargaining power and the number of feats you gain per level and finally constitution which boosts your health and vitality (which acts like mana and is spent when you use skills).
Feat (skill) options are kept pretty simply with a single target skill, stun skill, an area of effect skill and feats to boost your health and vitality. Items round out your customisation options in Underworlds with a huge collection of items that each offer their own stats or can be sold for gold to merchants.
Players won’t be limited to one playthrough of Underworlds either, with four different difficulties you’ll be able to experience four different challenges and thanks to the random loot drops each playthrough will be different.
If you weren’t a fan of the original Diablo you’ll probably not like what Underworlds offers, this is definitely a game that thrives on its nostalgic feel more than anything.
