Use this Idleon construction guide to maximise your build rate on the construction board. This World 3 town skill is deceptively important to your overall account progression with the correct cog build significantly reducing the time to unlock the utility buildings, wizard towers and shrines. This page details the basics of the construction system, progression tips, how to optimise your cog board and the most impactful bonus sources.

Construction Basics
Construction is a complex World 3 skill but important to optimise as it impacts several elements of your account and remains useful in later worlds. The construction skill is split between the build and cogs tab with some general guidance to optimise each:
Build Tab
The build tab uses your build rate and available construction slots to construct different buildings:
- Utility Towers: Unlock new World 3 mechanics or other account buffs
- Wizard Towers: Used in World 3 tower defence mini-game
- Shrines: Provide character boosts that grow in power based on AFK time.
Levelling up these buildings require different combinations of World 3 refinery salt and other resources. Generally the best strategy is to progress as far as possible to the right side in each row to unlock all the possible options although only if you can unlock it in a reasonable time period (e.g. less than a week).
Further levels should focus on unlocking all 3D printer slots first, a foundation of worship towers to generate souls and then upgrades based on your account needs.
Cogs Tab
The cogs tab is where you maximise build rate by assigning characters to the cog board for build rate or assigning them to create cogs in the cog shelf. Cogs can also be placed to the cog board to provide buffs to character experience, flag rate or build speed. Cogs grow in power from Nooby, Decent, Superb and Ultimate cogs unlocked at construction level 1, 15, 40 and 70. Players can also unlock stronger jewelled cogs from the Gaming Superbits upgrade (Duper Tab) that turns 5+ Ultimate Cogs into a Jewelled Cog with a daily limit.
The complete cog board must be unlocked by placing flags on the locked squares for a specified time period which is your first priority by using either directional Flaggy Rate (pointed to characters on the board) or Speed to Flags (pointed to flags). Both are important as they point towards different things to maximise flag speed although Speed to Flags will give the larger boost.
Once the entire cog board is unlocked place your Squire(s) on the cog board and surround them with the highest directional Player Construction XP to maximise Squire construction levels. Non directional cogs should also focus on the highest bonus construct EXP value possible which can be checked by clicking the click me eye button next to the cog shelf window toggle.
Maximising construction level is important to empower the Carpenter orange alchemy level that adds build rate based on construction skill level. Squires are the best for this as they have the Redox Rates talent for extra build rate and the Sharper Saws talent for extra construction EXP. All other characters are placed on the cog shelf for the highest cogs possible as shown below.
Best Cog Board Setup
The best cog board setup is:
- Squire(s) placed on the construction board with all other characters in the cog shelf.
- A combination of directional cogs pointed towards the Squire(s) that have % Player Construct XP
- All other cogs optimised for bonus construct EXP
This setup is shown below with a mixture of Squires (White), Omni (Green), Collumm/Rowow (Red) and Uppy/Downer/Leff/Rite (Blue).
The blue area has some flexibility depending on your cog luck but make sure as many cog directions touch each Squire where possible such as using all Rite cogs on the left hand side.
If you have premium Gem Shop cogs place the Yang Mongo Cogs in the two slots above, below, left and right of your Squire(s) instead of the blue squares. Place the Yin Excogia!!! outside of the coloured area as they have infinite range so do not sacrifice directional area for them.
Important Construction Buffs
These are the most important boosts to construction progress:

 Alchemy Bubble – Carpenter |
% Build Speed per Construction Level | Large source of build speed. Use the Alchemy bargain tag to make this affordable given it uses Explosive Salts. Once you can spend atoms to level bubbles aim for level 4,950 (99% value). |
 Alchemy Bubble – Call Me Bob |
% Construction EXP Gain | Large source of construction EXP and grows linearly. Increase this with Moustache Combs as available and eventually aim for 5,000 to 10,000 bubble level with atoms. |
 Squire Talent – Redox Rates |

 World 3 Merit Shop – Build/Food Slot |
