This Idleon island expeditions guide details the best unlock order and strategy tips for each island to maximise their benefits. Located in World 2 these islands requires level 30 fishing skill to reach the end of the fishing docks where message bottles spawn.
With 6 islands full of different daily and weekly game mechanics and each island increasing in cost I recommend an unlock order of Trash > Crystal > Shimmer > Seasalt > Rando > Fractal with reasons and tips below.

Island Expeditions Unlock Order
The unlock order I recommend for new players is: Trash > Crystal > Shimmer > Seasalt > Rando > Fractal . Information on each island is available on the wiki.
These islands are purchased by clicking the noticeboard next to Omar Da Ogar. I recommend this order because:
- Trash: Has a buff to message bottle gains to help unlock other islands.
- Crystal: Spawns crystal mobs that drop Time Candy and reward large class EXP to help account progress in the early Idleon worlds.
- Shimmer: Activates weekly challenges for base stat, damage, EXP and skill efficiency rewards.
- Seasalt: Adds a new fish location for World 6 equipment but players can fish the basic Icefish here with low fishing efficiency for high fishing experience gains. Unlock this before Shimmer if you are in or nearly up to World 6.
- Rando: Gives a guaranteed weekly random event spawn to acquire these rare drops. As these items are not super powerful and bosses can spawn daily during normal gameplay this is not a significant boost.
- Fractal: Has a powerful rare trophy and useful utility buffs but requires players to spend AFK time (or Time Candy) here which has better uses until late game.
If you are a returning player with a high level account that did not unlock Island Expeditions previously or rushed to World 6 you can change this order to unlock Seasalt before Shimmer to craft equipment. As Island Expeditions were added late in Idleon development other Island island guides suggest an order that was designed for advanced players on island release and not new players.
Trash Island Information & Tips
Trash Island and completing the Omar Da Ogar quests are the main way to increase the message bottles that spawn at Deepwater Docks so it is a critical first island. On this island garbage will wash up everyday and will stockpile until collected for spending in Garbage Tuna’s Shop.
I recommend purchasing garbage and message bottle gain when they are cheaper then the other useful once off upgrades like stamps, bribes and the Trash Tuna Nametag. This builds up a base of garbage and message bottle gain while gradually unlocking all the account bonuses.
Crystal Island Information & Tips
Spawns giant crystal mobs daily that drop Time Candy, players don’t need to visit this island daily as the monsters will accumulate. While the Time Candy is useful the experience from these crystals also helps significantly with class level. Be careful though as the health of these monsters is based on the furthest monster map you have reached in the game so always come prepared.
As you progress further into Idleon this island can be combined with the Chocolatey Chip in World 4 to spawn smaller regular crystal monsters for extra rare drops and EXP.
Shimmer Island Information & Tips
An island that will test the limits of your Idleon account with weekly challenges for shimmer points. Challenges include maximising stats, damage, skill efficiency, movement speed, critical chance and other account numbers. Remember to claim these weekly and optimise your characters for maximum points.
Shimmer points should focus predominately on the skill efficiency boost as this is the most impactful to your progression as the base stat, total damage and class EXP can easily be acquired elsewhere. Any leftover points can either be saved for next week or used to attempt to acquire the decent star talent (Dummy Thicc Stats) which gives all stat percentage.
Seasalt Island Information & Tips
A straightforward island that adds a new fishing location for Icefish, Shellfish, Jumbo Shrimp and Caulifish. The main purpose of these fish is for world 6 equipment and stamps while also providing significantly more fishing EXP than previous options. I recommend unlocking this island earlier if you need the new fish for progression.
Rando Island Information & Tips
This island guarantees at least one random event boss each week and a place to spend message bottles after all islands are unlocked. This is a low priority island given these can spawn hourly anyway and the drops are useful but not particularly strong for progression.
After you unlock all the islands save message bottles for the Rando Event Looty special talent book as it gives some AFK gains then spend message bottles on the cheapest upgrade between loot and double boss chance to help acquire all the rare boss drops.
Fractal Island Information & Tips
An island that gives account buffs for every hour spent AFK here doing nothing (town also counts once the island is unlocked). With the number of hours required to be spent doing nothing it is intended that players spend Time Candy to unlock them. I recommend this island last for new players as you will have better things to do with your Time Candy or general AFK time first.
The primary reason to do this is the Master of Nothing trophy that has a 1 in 100,000 chance to drop and has 10% all AFK Gain and 70% Skill EXP. At this stage there is no other nothing bonus that I recommend players chase as the benefits are too small for the time investment outside of end game players.
