Killroy Basics & Tips
Killroy is initially unlocked in World 2 but important throughout the entire game for the Skull Shop purchases available and functions as follows:
- Weekly Reset: Killroy resets at the same time as your weekly account reset. Always spend all skulls in the Skull Shop each week as the weekly reset removes any stored skulls.
- Gem Reset: Killroy can be manually reset once each week for 400 Gems to attempt the same set of rooms to earn extra skulls for the shop.
- Rooms: The challenge rooms replicate normal monster maps with enemies and must be completed with a specific class type (beginner, warrior, archer or mage).
- Kill Counter: Each room has a kill counter that does not impact the number of skulls received but there are Idleon challenges in Equinox Valley (World 3) that require a specific number of kills. There is also a Killroy Prime bonus in Rift 51 (World 4) that boosts damage based on your high score kill counts.
- Extra Rooms: Killroy starts with one room initially. A second room is unlocked by reaching World 4 with the third room purchased from the Skull Shop (1% chance) after reaching Killroy Prime in Rift 51 (World 4).
- Monster Drops: Monsters will drop Killroy skulls and talent point ribbons initially and can eventually drop Dungeon Credits or Pearls after a World 3 Equinox Valley upgrade.
- Killroy Upgrades: After completing a Killroy challenge players can increase one permanent upgrade for future Killroy attempts. These upgrades start as +1 second timer, talent drops and bonus skulls. Players unlock faster respawn, dungeon drops and pearl drops from the Equinox Valley (World 3).
- Skull Shop: Skulls dropped from monsters in rooms can be spent in the Skull Shop for a mixture of consumable or account upgrades featured at the end of this page. New shop options are unlocked from The Rift and World 7 (Plastic Basin map).
Best Killroy Classes
These are the best Killroy classes for each room challenge and changes slightly depending on the class advancement you have available at the time.
| Type | Best Class Path | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| The Squire and future class advancements have several strong area of effect attacks. Before unlocking the Squire in World 3 a Barbarian is the best choice. | ||
|
The Bowman has better area of effect attacks until your Hunter upgrades to the Beast Master job advancement for enhanced skill attacks that have greater area of effect potential. |
||
| The Shaman path has superior area of effect attacks. | ||
| Any Beginner, Journeyman, Maestro or Void Walker you have available. | No other option for this room. |
Best Killroy Upgrades
Killroy upgrades directly impact how many skulls you earn each week and there is no way to reset Killroy upgrades. I recommend this priority order:
- Place at least 1 point in all 6 upgrades as they become available.
- Increase Timer to level 160 this gives you a total Killroy challenge time of 260 seconds with the 100 base timer. As extra Killroy monsters stop spawning after 250 seconds this maximises your monster spawns with a 10 second buffer of time to kill them. Monsters still spawn after this point but at a severely reduced rate so this is an ideal stopping point for time spent efficiency. Prioritising Timer first also ensures you can complete particular Equinox Valley (World 3) challenges that may block your progress otherwise.
- Increase Bonus Skulls and Respawn equally as both of these increase Skull rewards. If you are still struggling to complete the Equinox Valley challenges prioritise respawn initially as these are based on reaching particular kill counts.
Best Skull Shop Purchases
These are my recommended selections for what to buy in the Skull Shop although consider your own account progress as different purchases are useful at different stages of Idleon progression and some aren’t available until later.
| Skull Shop | Detail | Tier Rating – Notes |
|---|---|---|
![]() |
1% Chance to permanently unlock the 3rd Killroy Weekly Fight! | S Tier – Unlocks more Killroy attempts |
![]() |
Get 6 Balls! They’re put right into the arcade! | S Tier – Provides Gems for various account upgrades. This is capped each week so always purchase this first before other shop items. |
![]() |
5% Chance for +1 Grade for your Gallery in World 7! | S Tier – Unlocks extra gallery grade to boost your strongest trophies. After the grade increase this increase gallery multi instead, aim for at least 0.08x which is 800 purchases. Eventually push to 0.09x which is an extra 1,000 purchases (1,800 total). |

Get a random time candy! Pick it up off the floor. | A Tier – There are many Time Candy sources eventually but in the early game this provides a flexible usable item that can push different fighting or skilling goals. This also remains useful in late game to push things like skilling levels, Green Mushroom kills or shrine levels. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts EXP gain for all World 7 skills | A Tier – Helps progression in the World 7 skills which are difficult to level but have powerful account upgrades. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts daily coral gain | A Tier – Faster purchases of the World 7 coral buffs which are powerful but there are lots of other coral sources available to consider. |
![]() |
Complete 1 Refinery Cycle automatically, right here right now! | A Tier – Speeds up initial refinery progress which can be a bottleneck. Less effective later game when refinery speed is quick and you no longer need salts for crafting. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts the drops of Masterclasses | B Tier – Improves your masterclass (Arcane Cultist, Wind Walker and Death Bringer) resources rates to reduce the time taken to acquire their account boosts. While a useful stat the Killroy multiplier is small compared to other sources like alchemy. |
![]() |
Get 2 Library Checkouts! It’s put right into the library! | B Tier – Helps increase key talent levels and the World 3 checkout achievement. Less effective later game when checkout speed is quick or talents already maxed. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts Artifact Find Chance! | C Tier – World 5 Sailing has many game changing artefacts which this speeds up. Points spent here are eventually wasted though after you collect them all and there are enough sources of artifact chance available elsewhere. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts Crop Evolution Chance! | C Tier – Crop evolutions are the core of the World 6 Farming skill and provide different account boosts. This is useful to overcome crop evolution hurdles but like the upgrade above eventually stops providing value when you finish all crops and there are enough other sources available. |
![]() |
Get a black pearl, gives Skill EXP! Pick it up off the floor. | C Tier – Useful before all your characters have level 30 in skills and particularly useful for unlocking the Maestro class but useless after this point. |
![]() |
Permanently boosts Jade Gain! | D Tier – Speeds up the World 6 Sneaking skill which has many account boosts through the Jade Emporium or Pristine Charms but Jade is not a noticeable bottleneck. |
![]() |
Get a white pearl, gives Class EXP! Pick it up off the floor. | D Tier – Helps acquire levels early on to speed up progression. |
![]() |
Your next kill spawns 1 Crystal Mob! Expires at end of day! | D Tier – A quick way to spawn some crystal monsters for drops or to complete a quest. Late game though crystal mobs spawn regularly enough that this is not necessary. |
![]() |
Adds 1 nugget to your Shovel in Gaming, go dig it up! | F Tier – Helps World 5 Gaming with an extra nugget chance but this is only a tiny boost that is not impactful enough for the cost. |
![]() |
Get 2 Pet Eggs! Pick them up off the floor. | F Tier – Provides eggs for World 4 Breeding but these are readily available through the mini boss or Colosseum from this world. |
![]() |
Get 3 Kitchen Ladles! Pick them up off the floor. | F Tier – As above these are easy to obtain from the mini boss or Colosseum from this world. 3 Ladles is also only a small amount of AFK time. |
![]() |
Get a Dungeon Loot Dice! Pick it up off the floor. | F Tier – Can be earned easily by playing Party Dungeons instead. |
