Minehead Basics & Tips
- Mr Minehead Location: Minehead is unlocked after purchasing Research grid upgrade J6 and is located on the World 7 Minefield map (Boomy Mine map).
- Not Minesweeper: Despite the similar visual appearance the game mechanics are NOT similar to Minesweeper, every square revealed is randomly a damage number or a depth charge. Your goal is to deal the required damage by revealing number tiles while avoiding depth charges which take one of your lives.
- Active Currency Gain: Similar to Research your Minehead currency gain is severely reduced if you are not active and is based on your Research AFK percentage.
- Prioritise Currency: While Minehead strategy does help you defeat enemies it is primarily a waiting game to reach enough upgrades to improve your odds of victory through damage or utility so anything currency related should always be a priority.
Minehead Strategy
Initial Minehead strategy is straightforward and revolves around revealing a single tile before attacking even though this is slow. This gives you the best odds at avoiding depth charges as the odds of hitting a depth charge increase with every click each turn.
After Golden Tiles unlock: Strategy changes slightly now that you have guaranteed safe tiles as you can start trying to make a large single attack to either outright defeat your opponent or deal a high percentage of their overall health and then revert to the initial strategy above.
Play the initial strategy above until you have a grid that has all of your golden tiles on it and reveal several tiles before clicking on all your golden tiles which can lead to a large attack. Revealing a higher number of tiles before clicking golden tiles will increase your risk but may be required depending on your opponent and base damage.
After Boom Blocker unlock: This unlock empowers the above Golden Tiles stacking strategy further as you can now click as many tiles as you want until you trigger a depth charge (consuming your Boom Blocker) before claiming your guaranteed Golden Tiles. This strategy also grows stronger with further progress through Triple Crown Hunter and Legal Cheating Button that empower your damage or make it easier to avoid depth charges for longer.
Minehead Upgrade Priority
New Minehead upgrades unlock based on your Research levels although only a few are critical to progressing. Prioritise these upgrades in approximate order to reduce the time taken to defeat new opponents and spend your Minehead currency efficiently.
There are also some upgrades available outside of Minehead in the Research Grid to consider but I recommend only maxing J6 initially as research points have better account wide upgrade options and with enough time you can progress reasonably far without further Research purchases. After unlocking other things you desire in Research consider minehead upgrades in this order: I5 (Currency), H5 (currency but also daily tries), H4 (damage multi), G4 (chance to not trigger a depth charge) and G5 (extra damage per turn).
