This guide explains how to access Poppy the Kangaroo and optimise progress with strategic tips for the incremental mini-game with key account bonuses. These strategies aren’t initially obvious but critical to unlocking the useful World 2 bonuses (defence, accuracy, damage, AFK gains, cash and fishing efficiency/XP).
If you’re already familiar with Poppy the Kangaroo I recommend a 1/1/4 ratio for blue/green/red reset bonuses with yellow 100 and black 250 as these have capped benefits.

How To Unlock Poppy the Kangaroo
Progress to the Crabcake map (Dessert Dunes) and complete these steps:
- Visit the World 2 vendor shop and purchase the Secret Map at the bottom of the shop UI for 3 gold coins and 72 silver.
- With the Secret Map in your inventory move to the top of the Crabcake map.
- Hold down on the Secret Map while standing on top of the palm tree to teleport to The Oasis map where Poppy lives.
Note that the Secret Map is not consumed when used so players can revisit the location by using it again. Alternatively once you visit The Oasis for the first time you can teleport to the map directly from the world map at the cost of one daily teleport.
Poppy Basics Guide
As an incremental game Poppy The Kangaroo is initially slow and reliant on active clicking of the fish pond to generate the main currency (blue fish known as bluefin) although is eventually passive. Overall your goal in this mini game is to increase the Bonuses from Poppy upgrade as this is what gives the core Idleon gameplay bonuses.
These are the basic elements of Poppy the Kangaroo gameplay:
- Bluefin: The primary currency used to purchase blue fish upgrades that increase the speed blue fish are generated, activate extra mechanics or reset your progress for special megafish bonuses. Similar to the World 1 Owl these extra upgrades are unlocked based on your accumulated Bluefin fish.
- Shiny Fish: The third bluefin upgrade will unlock shiny fish which are a strong multiplier to blue fish generation which accumulates over time and can be claimed with the “tap here” button. There are 6 different types of shiny fish (yellow, orange, green, pink, black and blue) with increasing rarity and multiplier bonus effect.
- Tar Pit: A secondary currency unlocked after your first megafish (Greatest Catch) purchase which is accessed by clicking the Tar Pit button. This gives Tartar Fish and access to a secondary bonus UI.
- Reset Points: These points are earned from the Fisheroo Investing (blue fish) and Tarrific Resets (tartar fish) but only added to your available points after a Fisheroo Reset or Greatest Catch reset. Invest these points by pressing the bonuses button to increase bluefin, shiny fishing speed/luck, cheaper upgrades, higher reset bonuses and increase tartar fish caught. These Poppy points can be reset by clicking the button and clicking the green fish in the pond.
- Megafish: Add new mechanics or bonuses to increase your speed of progression after resetting. Earn a new megafish by purchasing the Greatest Catch and resetting your progress.
Reset Strategy & Point Ratio
The most important decision for Poppy the Kangaroo is when to reset with Fisheroo Reset or Greatest Catch as you must maximise the bonus points from Fisheroo Investing (bluefin) and Tarrific Resets (tartar fish) to push as many Bonuses from Poppy as possible. As each reset gets increasingly expensive it is important that you don’t click this button as soon as it is available and instead accumulate as many Poppy points as possible first.
I recommend this general process after a reset (or before your first reset):
- Unlock all bluefin upgrades but do NOT purchase Fisheroo Reset or Greatest Catch. Focus on Fishy Discount and Fisheroo Investing while spreading bluefin amongst other upgrades.
- If tartar upgrades are available invest in Bonus Catching to level 72 (450%) and Mongo Multipliers to level 80 (20%) as these are capped at this level.
- Next tartar upgrades to focus on are Super Tarbait and Tarrific Resets.
- Claim shiny fish until you have some of all 6 shiny fish to maximise your bluefin multiplier.
- After you have all 6 multipliers continue to focus on Fisheroo Investing and Tarrific Resets until it takes longer than 24hrs to purchase both of these upgrades.
- At this point if Greatest Catch reset is available then purchase it to reset.
- If it has been a week and you have not reached the Greatest Catch upgrade cost then reset with Fisheroo Reset instead while continuing to claim shiny fish and spending bluefin or tartar during this time.
- After reset spend any bonus points at a 1/5/1/1/5 ratio initially until yellow is at 100 and black is at 250 as these are the diminishing return points. From here on upgrades should be 1/1/4 ratio for blue, green and red.
For example if you have 65 points after a reset invest them in 5 Blue / 25 Yellow / 5 Green / 5 Red / 25 Black. While if you have 650 points (from multiple resets) your total would be 50 Blue / 100 Yellow / 50 Green / 200 Red / 250 Black.
This Poppy points ratio maximises your progression and while the resets are slow initially the later resets will be faster and maximises the potential Bonuses from Poppy you can unlock. While these bonuses seem small initially there is a World 7 legend talent and pet to multiply them to highly useful values.
