Summoning Stone Locations (Summoning Bosses)

These bosses provide a multiplier to the associated colour summoning upgrades and are essentially a damage check to see if you can defeat the boss within a time limit using your familiars. After defeating a boss they can be challenged again with a higher health pool for an additional multiplier.

Combat Priority

The combat priority is to maximise damage, utility and then some of the larger health boosts available and at lower Summoning Doubler levels when you can’t double everything you want a balance of all 3. The order will depend slightly on your strongest upgrades at the time so check your own account to see which one of the similar upgrade types (like % damage) is most powerful to double.

For example while the Teal upgrades are stronger on a per level basis the cost is significant so cheaper essence types like Cyan, Red and Purple will generally be stronger as you can reach higher levels. There are also Teal upgrades that increase in power as you progress in endless summoning and total summoning upgrades so their strength will vary.

Upgrade Name (Essence) Effect

Summoning Strategies

Summoning strategies change as you progress and unlock new Summoning familiars or utility upgrades which can be combined below. These strategies are for stone and endless battles as the summoning boss stone strategy is to simply spam as many units as possible to pass the damage check.

Initial Strategy

Early Summoning battles are generally straight forward as your health and attack values will be high enough to defeat the enemies so you can focus on summoning in places that block your opponent. When this starts to become difficult you can usually win by spamming units at the bottom of the battle screen to overwhelm your opponent before they can reduce your health points.

Strategy With Mana Overflow (Green Essence Upgrade)

Once you unlock the Mana Overflow upgrade in green essence upgrades wait to summon any units to allow this upgrade to increase maximum mana and mana regeneration significantly. When you are close to losing all your health points start spamming units to push back the opponent and win. This spamming is also buffed later with Final Card purple essence upgrade which increases mana regeneration every time you clear your hand and Hundredaire teal essence upgrade which increases unit damage if your mana is 100x the cost of the summoned unit.

Strategy With Spiked Placement (Green Essence Upgrade)

Once Spiked Placement is unlocked when summoning a unit it will create a small area of effect damage field around your cursor/finger which significantly boosts damage output and further buffed when Serrated Spikes cyan essence upgrade is unlocked. Focus this attack towards the largest concentration of opponent familiars or for boss battles always on the boss itself.

Strategy With Redraw (Yellow Essence Upgrade) and Sparkie (Red Essence Upgrade)

When these two upgrades are unlocked using redraws strategically is an important strategy. While accumulating Mana Overflow you can reroll your cards to get a strong starting hand with at least one Sparkie as these are the best attacking familiar for area of effect damage and knockback. This is one of the notable random elements of summoning battles and depending on your luck with initial and subsequent Sparkies can change a battle from impossible to easy.

Strategy With Seeing Red (Red Essence Upgrade)

This upgrade pairs perfectly with previous strategies once unlocked as it provides a massive attack buff for any health point damage you have taken. This once again combines with the Mana Overflow strategy as waiting to summon your own familiars will build mana and damage at the same time.

Endless Strategies

Endless Summoning is unlocked with a Cyan essence upgrade and provides endless battles for players against increasingly powerful opponents for even stronger bonuses including stamp levels, Equinox max level, meal bonus multiplier and summoning winner bonuses multiplier. Progress here is somewhat time gated as you need to develop your overall summoning power to progress but there are particular strategies you can combine with the above strategies for improved odds:

Endless Modifier Effect Strategy
Extra Time I’ve doubled our health points so we can play longer. Use the extra health for higher Seeing Red bonuses to increase your damage.
Fair Play No lane stacking! When you hurt me, all your units in that lane take damage. A difficult modifier that rewards careful timing of familiar summoning, it can be useful to stack your Bloomy familiars in one area and then ensure that all your attacks are on a different vertical area so that you do not lose your mana regeneration each time you deal damage. If you know that Fair Play is about to trigger then you can wait to summon familiars or place them elsewhere instead.
Fast Forward All of our units, yours and mine, move at 170% speed. Be careful of the extra speed while building up Seeing Red bonuses as units can reduce your health quicker than normal.
Invincibility Just let me play my units, I will forfeit one health each time, but you must deal the final blow. A defensive focused modifier the value of Bloomy and Guardio increases so you can target them with early redraws but don’t forget to still build Seeing Red. As any summoning units that reach the end of the battle area are wasted you can try summon units slower to match your opponent which saves mana for one final push to deal the final blow.
Slow Motion All units, both yours and my own, move at 60% speed. No notable strategy changes but these will take longer to complete.
Offside Rules When you hurt me, all your minions beyond the midfield perish. Be careful with the timing of your familiars they can go to waste when you deal damage to your opponent. The challenge risk with this modifier is that when the offside rule triggers you are overwhelmed by your opponent so consider saving Sparkies in your hand if you know it’s about to trigger as this will give you a boost afterwards to recover.
Triple Overtime Ten times the health points. I wanna see your deck’s lategame viability. Similar to extra time use the extra health for additional Seeing Red buffs.
Zerg Surprise You best be ready, I’m playing all my minions on turn 1! Lowers the time to build up Mana Overflow or Redraw and be careful while using Seeing Red as your health reduces quickly.
Uno Draw 7 You’re playing with a 7 card hand. It’s more fun this way, trust me you’ll love it! Redrawing early to stack multiple Sparkies in your hand is more powerful as you can see more cards than usual.
Glass Cannon You have but a single health point, as do I. Cannot build up Seeing Red so your damage will be significantly lower. Try to rush your opponent if possible as they only have a single health point otherwise focus on defensive play to hold your enemy then focus a particular row to push through.
Truce No mods, no effects, no tricks. I want a proper match this time. No strategy changes from normal battles.

Summoning Tips

  • Upgrade Priority: Always prioritise purchasing essence generation from the respective summoning colour upgrades as this will compound into future gains. Other upgrades are still important though once you can no longer afford essence upgrades with many useful utility and general health/damage upgrades. The Arcane Cultist also has the Essential Essence talent which lowers the cost of upgrades based on your total Summoning upgrades.
  • Always Buy Familiars: The white essence familiar purchase resets every four days and is the source of base Summoning experience. Always buy these when they are available as summoning level will boost essence generation and eventually can increase the strength of all star signs once you unlock Seraph star sign tier. A World 7 Legend Talent and an Arcane Cultist talent also increase the number of familiars purchasable for additional summoning experience gain.
  • Use Daily Attempts: Summoning battles have elements of luck involved including the familiar cards that you draw and the location the enemy summons familiars so if you barely lose a fight make sure you are using all of your daily attempts to try again for hopefully better luck.
  • Store Summoning Experience: As Summoning experience is only added to your characters when you walk into the summoning area it is possible to accumulate experience and only claim when your experience multiplier is higher. This is an advanced tactic that can be useful if you are close to unlocking a large experience boost such as the stamp, card, meal or vial. Experience can also be accumulated into the World 2 Bonus Ballot is Summoning EXP as you reach higher summoning levels that are harder to obtain.
  • Boss Battles: Don’t forget about the boss stone battles if you hit a wall as these strong multipliers to each essence colour can help give you a significant boost to progress.
  • Swap your Summoning Doublers: When you unlock Summoning Doublers from the Gambit Cavern in World 5 don’t forget that these can be reset at the Lamp. This allows you to focus on essence generation upgrades for a period of time for large essence gain and then swap to damage or utility upgrades while you push battles as far as possible. Once you hit a battle wall swap back to essence generation summoning doublers for a few days and repeat the process.
