Class Tier List Summary – All Classes Ranked
The Sunderfolk characters have been rated using a S > A > B > C rating system for each party size as this can dramatically change their effectiveness in the campaign scenarios. Even a C tier hero can be a valuable and enjoyable team member though they simply require extra attention and gold or equipment investment to achieve their potential compared to the other Sunderfolk heroes.

Best Class Tier List Detail
- Arcanist: A high skill ceiling character that might not achieve its potential for a new player initially but after a few campaign scenarios or in experienced table top game hands will be able to dominate the battlefield particularly at the 2-3 party size. Primarily played around different manipulation tactics the Arcanist will dictate enemy and ally positions through portals and decoys.
- Vanguard: The 7th character added to Sunderfolk that added a second tank option with a focus on disruption and retaliation on enemies. Overall the role is very similar to the Berserker but can lack consistency at the smaller team size where enemies are spread out but in larger team sizes will output more damage than a Berserker while only giving up a small amount of survivability.
- Bard: The supportive character of Sunderfolk they thrive in the larger team sizes where they have more allies to empower. That being said 4 player parties can be difficult depending on your team composition for other reasons as you need space to move across the battlefield for your music note mechanic to work.
- Ranger: A consistent high damage dealer the Ranger is a safe ranged pick that likes to be paired with a reliable front line character so that they can maintain distance from enemies. They do have some strategic tools to stay safe with trap mechanics but don’t want to rely heavily on these as every turn playing safe is a lost damage turn.
- Berserker: A reliable and effective tank character that works in all party sizes and is also simple to play. Don’t mistake simplicity for weak though as the Berserker’s ability to move quickly across the battlefield, taunt enemies and soak up damage are critical to many of the campaign scenarios while also dealing respectable area of effect damage for a tank archetype.
- Rogue: The Rogue is a familiar archetype and plays as a stealth positional specialist to deal massive damage to opponents. This character relies on carefully planning a few steps ahead for monster and ally movement that can make it tricky for those unfamiliar with card based RPGs. When the plan triggers it is an incredible feeling but these simply don’t occur often enough to be as impactful as other characters. If you want to play the Rogue it performs best at the mid party size of 3 players as at 2 and 4 players they suffer from too few and too many monsters that make planning difficult.
- Pyromancer: While this is my personal favourite hero for their thematic the Pyromancer is not the strongest Sunderfolk hero. They are a master of area of effect fire damage and leaves fire on the battlefield to empower themselves or create a damaging ground effect. With a mage design the Pyromancer is susceptible to enemies and also reliant on collecting fire for maximum effect which isn’t always possible in scenarios that means they don’t always realise this potential but it is easier in larger parties if your team doesn’t mind walking around the flames you create.
Best Party Compositions
These are my recommended party compositions that balance the strengths and weaknesses of different heroes to ensure a powerful party that ensures success regardless of your difficulty selected.
| Party Size | Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3 | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Characters | Berserker & Bard | Berserker & Arcanist | Berserker & Ranger | The Berserker is almost mandatory at this team size to have a reliable and durable character. They can be swapped out for the Vanguard if preferred in all of these example parties which include the three best damage and utility partners for your choice of tank character. |
| 3 Characters | Berserker, Arcanist & Bard | Berserker, Pyromancer & Bard | Berserker, Ranger & Arcanist | Once again the Berserker and Vanguard are interchangeable in these options with the Arcanist, Bard, Ranger and Pyromancer capable of being added in different combinations. |
| 4 Characters | Vanguard, Berserker, Ranger & Bard | Berserker, Bard, Arcanist & Ranger | Berserker, Vanguard, Arcanist & Pyromancer | Option 1 is the safest option with the dual tank setup with the supportive Bard and high damage Ranger. For the other options you’ll want an extra damage dealer by trading away the Bard or one of the tanks to ensure you can remove enemies from the board fast enough. |
