Life Is Strange is an episodic adventure with the first part of the game released in late January 2015 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Following the adventures of a photography student named Maxine Caulfield in a fictitious American town (Arcadia Bay). Maxine is anything but a normal student though with the ability to rewind time which serves as the main game mechanic, leading to repeated butterfly effects along with issues of memory and identity.

Played in a third person perspective players explore the fictional Arcadia Bay while interacting with objects, NPCs and exploring the various dialogue trees. Players will also encounter a number of quests which require basic puzzle solving or item fetching. Maxine’s rewind ability can be used at any point in time and is the primary method for solving the above mentioned quests. Choice is also a key fundamental to the game with the player being faced with constant choices that can impact both the short and long term story direction.
