To being your Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville adventure players can customise their primary character with a number of visual options. The most important of these decisions though is your job which bestows special perks too boos your scavenging, happiness, defences, healing time and much more. Players will recruit additional characters as they advance that have their own statistics, stories and skills.

After setting the stage with the introduction story players pick up the game deciding to take a stand against the zombies and rebuild society. Starting with a party of 5 adventurers you’ll move them around the city landscape by clearing out buildings, scavenging resources and ultimately improving your settlement. This can be done in either real time or turn based with generally switching between the two generally giving the best result.

When commanding your survivors your key consideration is what actions you want them to perform at the new location which can range from scouting to scavenging or killing any zombies there. With the zombies wiped out players can bring the location into their protection although will need to be quick before it refills with the undead.

Finding and transforming items is a primary mechanic as you improve the equipment of your characters and the strength of your fort. This is supported through the 50 different types of buildings that offer unique bonuses, over three dozen research tree options and various resources.

The result is a high quality and fun game with a unique graphic style solidifying a strong adventure. It’s only weakness is the limited variety in core mechanics that makes it feel repetitive although some randomness helps alleviate this.

Summary:

  • Rebuild society one building at a time.
  • Customise your leader and other settlers with skills and equipment.
  • Equip a range of items and advance through the tech tree.
  • Blends real time and turn based gameplay.
  • Available for Windows, Mac and mobile devices.
