Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville

  • Simple but effective graphic style that ensures you have all the information necessary to make decisions
  • Broad list of items, skills and missions that is good for quick and long term sessions as you always feel a sense of progress
  • Limited variety in core mechanics after your first or second adventure
  • Some of the tedious game mechanics would benefit from automated elements to reduce micromanagement

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville is all about strategy, survival and zombies with your objective to return society to the glory days before the zombie apocalypse devastated the cities of the world and left them in ruin. With the series starting as a free browser experience the franchise has added significant depth since those early days and now made itself available across Windows, Mac and mobile platforms (Android and iOS).

In Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville your objective requires you to utilise your range of strategy and simulation tools to protect a small pool of survivors while scavenging for food, other supplies and defending against gang attacks or zombie attacks. Managing the interpersonal relationships of your survivors and their various illness that they’ll be inflicted with also add a people simulation element to the core gameplay loop.

To begin your Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville adventure players can customise their primary character with a number of visual options. The most important of these decisions though is your selection of job which bestows special perks that can potentially boost your scavenging, happiness, defences, healing time and more that alter your overall strategy. Players can also alter this adventure slightly by defining some of the parameters for the random city generation if they wish. In campaign mode players will advance through a dozen cities of different difficulty, size and numbers of competing factions.

With the stage set and the city generated players step into the zombie world with the objective to stack a stand against the zombie invasion and in time rebuild society. Starting with a party of survivors and a small handful or resources based on difficulty you’ll adventure outside the initial starting city blocks of your base. By clearing out buildings, scavenging resources and ultimately improving your settlement you’ll make progress to a safer settlement although with expansion comes its own challenges. In time you’ll reach a victory condition that requires you to build a city hall, befriend factions or similar achievements depending on the game mode.

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville offers both real time and turn based management modes that let you dictate the pace of progression although generally switching between the two will give you the best result. Guiding your progression players will accept a range of missions that require you to scout, scavenge, recruit, fight zombies or reclaim city areas that have their own risk profile to consider. Each also awards a varying amount of ammunition, food, fuel or materials that serve as your key resources for construction, research and general day to day survivor management.

With the survivors being your workhorses players need to pay particular attention to them and when not sent out on a mission will guard your primary fort. New survivors will be steadily found as players complete missions, unlock random events obtain them from defeating a faction. Similar to the main character they have their own equipment, skills and perks that make them specialists at some of the mechanics of Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville and should be considered against the mission you intend to utilise them and can be trained further if necessary.

Finding and transforming items is also primary mechanic as you improve the equipment of your characters and the strength of your fort. This is supported through the 50 different types of buildings that offer unique bonuses and over three dozen research tree options that help you keep up with the increasing difficult challenges of the zombie controlled world.

  • Rebuild society one building at a time as you command survivors to visit various locations and complete missions.
  • Customise your leader and other settlers with skills and equipment to specialise them at certain activities.
  • Equip a range of items and advance through the detailed research tech tree.
  • Blends real time and turn based gameplay with a mixture allowing players to be strategic while controlling the pace of the game.
  • Available for Windows, Mac and mobile devices (Android and iOS).
