Super Paper Mario is the third title in the Paper Mario series, available for the Nintendo Wii this Mario themed action adventure lets players switch between 2D and 3D perspectives at a moments notice.

Your main objective in this Maria world is to find and collect eight Pure Hearts in the eight game chapters. Each chapter serves as a different area with unique elements and is accessible from the primary hub town of Flipside.

This journey has been foretold by the Light Prognosticus, a prophetical tome that details how a hero matching Mario’s description would save the world. After Peach, Bowser and Luigi are captured by Count Bleck and forces Peach and Bowser to marry in order to open up a black hole to “The Void” Mario is called into action to complete this prophesied journey.

Within each of the thirty two levels that players will find in the eight chapters mastering the swapping between 2D and 3D will serve you well. Using this tool effectively allows players to get passed impassable obstacles, find items and disposes of enemies which is only possible in one of these states. Excessive use of 3D though will drain your health.

In addition to using Mario players can also command Princess Peach, Luigi and even the evil Bowser who all have their own abilities that make it easier to get past a certain point in the game or reach some sort of secret. Peach for example can float over long distances and block attacks, Bowser can breathe his infamous fire and Luigi can complete a super jump to reach the highest of places.

Overall Super Paper Mario is light hearted, unique and slightly fourth wall breaking.

Summary:

  • Third game in the Paper Mario series.
  • Play as Mario, Peach, Luigi and Bowser.
  • Conquer 32 levels split across 8 game areas.
  • Swap the game world between 2D and 3D at your whim.
  • Level up to boost your health pool.

  1. This is not the second game in the Paper Mario Franchise. It is the third. The second was Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, for the Nintendo Gamecube.
